World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a method to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it may increase the rarity of an item or mark Level and increase other stats.

Upgrades to equipment in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests Each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a certain amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's base stats increases as it is upgraded. This is the sum of all its leveled up advantages (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrading items can be expensive depending on the upgrader and what kind of upgrade you decide to perform. This is due to how many perks need to be replaced to allow the item to be upgraded.

It is also used as a gating requirement when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It also serves to limit the amount of PvP gear players are able to wear, since PvP is limited at a lower level. The average item level can be found on the character sheet.

The level of an item will allow players to compare the potency of gear when deciding to purchase or sell. It's a useful gauge of an item's worth and how much damage it's able to deal. Comparing items in a vendor's stock is possible using the level of the item.

On PC, you can view the item level upgrade level by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the item's full description, including ilvl. It can also be located by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are a few theories on how the item level calculation is made. One theory states that the item level is calculated by an equation that determines the worth of an item's stats actually are. It considers the fact that different perks have different values and gems in sockets increase the overall value of the item. This process could result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl, which is typically close to the actual Blizzard item level.

This is not the only thing that affects the level of an item. The degree of the area in which the item was dropped can change its stats. For example, it could increase the item's haste or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have higher ilvl.

Item Stats

Item stats are a big component of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game makes use of them in various ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to one weapon and to encourage players to experiment with other weapons. The stat mods on an weapon increase the base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by a player's skill.

Upgrades to the item add by boosting certain stats on the item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. A grey or white item, for example, will only be upgraded once however, items with rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times with higher costs.

Another way to change the stats of an item is to use affixes. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and they come in all shapes and sizes. The affixes can be used to give items additional damage, special abilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs), or to distinguish them by putting a name on them.

All affixes are re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window, pressing the green button. It will cost a set amount of gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges just like the other rerolling methods.

In addition to rerolling affixes, players can also choose which of the available stats to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However each item will contain at least one stat within the range, unless they are a unique item or a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the attaches, or select which stats to increase. But, like base equipment, this would need to be performed on a per-item basis, and the interface for item comparison will not show all the stats that could be either lost or gained at the same time.

Item Luck

A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the likelihood of finding items and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the intensity of these properties. However, it doesn't directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players a chance to acquire better equipment earlier in the game and is thus more useful in the early game than in later ones, because most players value higher weapon scaling and defenses over the raw damage gain.

Luck can also boost the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading that increases with each level of the item and can be further enhanced through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, shields, and armor can be made or spawn using the Luck property, with the default value of 40. These items can be augmented by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on their material type) for a further +40 luck, or to increase an item's existing Luck up to 140.

Moreover some items, such as the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be used to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items are available in the shop or made using the correct ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to boost their chances of success or even prevent them from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.

When you upgrade an item level upgrade, the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of successfully upgrading that item, and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased as high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail can't be greater than 100%..

The luck of an item may affect the effectiveness of an upgrade. Every item has an average success rate of 25%, and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.

The upgrade overlays of the item are rendered above the items in the inventory. This can obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the item upgrade upgrader (click over here) CORE client config.
