World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

The upgrade of an item can be used to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type it can boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.

Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a certain amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its base stats improve in value. The value is the sum of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high, depending on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to do. This is due to how many perks need to be replaced in order for the item to get upgraded.

The level of an item is a popular measure of power, and can be found on all tooltips for items. It can also be used as a gating requirement while queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is limited to a lower level). The average item level can be found in the character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell equipment players can look at the level of an item. It's an excellent indicator of an item's quality and how much damage it is capable of dealing with. Comparing items in a vendor's stock can be done using the level of the item.

The level of the item can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the full description of the item, including its ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are several theories about how the level of an item is determined. One theory says that the level of an item is determined by formulas that determine the value of an item's stats actually are. It considers that different benefits are valued differently and that gems in sockets increase the value of the item. This process could result in a calculated amount for the item's level, which is usually close to the actual Blizzard level of the item.

This is not the only factor that affects the ilvl of an item. The level of the area where the item was dropped can change its stats. For example, it could increase the item's haste, or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item are a major element in what determines the value of an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in different ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The stat mods of a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then increased by the player's level.

Item upgrades add to that by boosting certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines its upgrade cost. An item that is white or grey for instance, will only be upgraded once however, items that has rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times with higher prices.

Affixes are another way to change an item's stats. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. The affixes are used to provide items with extra damage or special capabilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs), or to make them unique by putting a name on them.

Currently, all affixes can be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button using circling arrows. This will cost a specific amount of gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade items gauges, similar to other methods of rerolling.

Players can choose to upgrade an item to a specific stat or reroll attaches. The range of stats determined by the item upgrader kit's level. However, all items will contain at least one stat within the same range, unless it's an item that is unique or a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

This is another thing that can be modified by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or selecting which stats to increase. However, as with the base equipment, this would need to be done on a per-item level, and the interface for comparing items wouldn't show all possible stats that were gained or lost at the same time.

Item Luck

A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the chances of item discoveries and the properties that are spawned from loot drops, and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to Upgrade Item items. It gives players the chance to upgrade equipment earlier in the game. This is especially useful in the early game, since players tend to prioritize defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the probability of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith's overall chances of upgrading, which increase with each level of the item. These can also be increased with the use of anti-materials, such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can be created or spawned using the Luck property, which has a default value of 40. These items can be enhanced by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on their material type) to increase the value of 40 luck or to increase the luck of the item to 140.

Moreover some items, like the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items are available from the shop, or they can be crafted using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are expensive and not all upgrades will succeed. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to boost their chance of success or stop themselves from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.

When you upgrade an item, the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on the extent to which success rates can be increased, and the overall chance of a failed upgrade cannot exceed 100%.

The performance of an upgrade is also affected by the luck of that item. Every item has an overall success rate of 25 percent and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by five percent.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the items in the inventory, so enchantment glint and other effects may be masked by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
