Choosing a Double Pushchair Twin

Side-by-Side

This is the most commonly used double pushchair stroller. It is usually able to accommodate two children side by side. They are generally wider than single pushchairs. This means they may be less nimble on the sidewalk and can be a little tricky to navigate between kerbs when a car seat is attached. However, the extra width means that they're generally easier to navigate through doorways and are more evenly distributed making them easier to carry around on your back.

Many models are able to be used as twin prams, and can accept a carrycot, or two car seats. Some models can be converted into one-mode with a basket to the side (like the Cybex Venus).

This creates an enclosed twin space, which is perfect for babies. The pram also comes with a number of really neat accessories, including the newborn cocoons that can be attached to face either way (for a twin-parent facing pushchair pram) or parent facing pram towards the front (for a standard single). It's not as lightweight as other options but it is really cleverly thought out.

Cybex is a brand known for its innovation, and this single-to-double pushchair is no different. Its clever frame expands widthways to take a second seat and you can use it as a twin right from birth, thanks to the addition of two newborn cocoons (PS59 each) which create enclosed lie-flat spaces for babies. It can also be used as an individual mode with only one child due to a large shopping basket that sits behind the seat. Tandem

If you are planning to have twins you will require a tandem pushchair. This will allow the children to sit together and see each other. They are ideal for activities such as visiting the zoo as the children can look at all the animals together. They are also ideal for parents who wish to monitor their toddler and baby at the same time.

Some tandem pushchairs are incredibly adaptable, as they can be converted back to single mode. This is particularly useful for families with more than two children (or when your oldest child isn't a need for a buggy any longer). This will help you avoid having to store an empty buggy which can be costly.

The Cybex Venus, for example can be used in double or mono mode. Its frame can expand to accommodate an additional seat. It's not the lightest of pushchairs, but it offers an enormous shopping basket which is located behind the front seat in double mode (and behind the seat in mono mode). The seats can be placed so that they face one the other or higher to be able to see what the other is doing.

Other double tandem pushchairs, such as the Joolz Geo 3, are able to seat one above the other or side-by-side. The compact, sleek frame makes it easy to maneuver through doorways and supermarket aisles. Certain models can be used on uneven terrain or as a jogging walk thanks to their large rear wheels and four-wheel suspension.

A tandem pushchair can be used to carry two carrycots or a car with a buggy seat. You can save money by establishing an entire travel stroller system from the beginning, and avoiding separate purchases. Remember that tandems are heavier and longer and may feel less stable when you bump into kerbs or navigating uneven surfaces. They also require dismantling to fit into cars.
