Window Sash Repairs

Window sashes must be regularly checked for mold, mildew and damage. By catching these problems early, you can save money on repairs in the future.

The sash is the interior frame that is vertically moved upwards or downwards in windows that are open. This article will teach you how to do a variety of simple repairs to sash.

Weather Stripping

Wood window sashes add an elegant look to your home and, when properly maintained, can last for many years. However, they can get damaged or deteriorated over time due to exposure or normal wear and tear. Sash repair experts can restore windows to their original condition and keep them looking great longer than replacement windows.

The first step in sash window repairs is addressing weather stripping. It's found on both the sash as well as the frame. It can cause drafts if worn out or loose. Start by identifying the window brand and the date of manufacture for the glass (etched on the glass's corner or the aluminum spacers between panes). Sash Weights

Once the access panel is removed, you can begin working on the sash. Take the narrow beads (also called "tie rails") out of their grooves using the chisel or flat bar.
