The best robotic mop and vacuum Robot automatic hoover

Wash them when necessary. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger one at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have tested. They have top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they utilize intelligent mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost, a feature that boosts the robot's performance when it spots the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our bare floor tests and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.

However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also quiet and can be used while you are at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its agile navigation and robot mop intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This top-performing combination vacuum and mop utilizes advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to remove and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the entire house with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a decent cleaning job on various flooring and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was great and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' compact models, this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit that could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine that is similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, as well as washes and drys the mop pads.

The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with the degree of dirt they tend to be.

For larger houses it's recommended to choose one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot vacuum cleaners best to clean a particular area of your house using the app or voice controls. A stairway mode is useful if you have a number of furniture. Additionally a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than the price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app also grants access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we have tested. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
