How to Replace an audi keys key replacement audi key cost uk cost (http://bitetheass.com/) G28 Engine Speed Sensor

volkswagon-logo.jpgIn this video Charles the Humble Mechanic shows how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. This sensor is situated near the transmission's edge just above the flywheel gear. It transmits a signal the ECU via an uncolored wire (T55/49), then to the tachometer within the instrument cluster.

Located on the edge of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends a signal to ECU pin T55/49 via an uncolored wire. The ECU uses this information to regulate the amount of fuel and boost. It also sends an alert to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.

The sensor serves as a reference to correlate with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu must be aware when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is so it can start spark and injectors according to the situation.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will show an error code P00160 which indicates that the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft aren't in sync and possibly indicating the chain stretching or a jump link on the upper chain of timing. However, the code won't appear on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

It's a bit tricky to test since there are various connector pins, and each has its own functions. The best way to do it is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read approximately 1000 ohms if the sensor is in full operation. Check for signs of coolant, or oil in the connector bay if there are issues with this component.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when i was accelerating to the fullest speed from highway paytoll i had an abrupt drop in power like the engine is running out of gas or injectors are not firing anymore. I took out the spark plugs this morning and found that 3 were drenched in gasoline and the fourth was dry. I placed a tissue over each injector hole and when I start the engine with no sparks, the 3 that have gazoline pop right out. The fourth one remains shut. I tested the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I got 0ohm. I assume that the problem is in another location.

I also tried to reset the PID but without success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it runs fine with the G28 plugged in. However the intermittent misfire issue persists at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for the coolant (G62) shows the wrong temperature of -49c, even if I unplug it. Also i noticed that the gauge for oil pressure in the cockpit shows 2 bar, whereas the actual pressure is 0.0 when I crank up the engine.

I'm not sure what to do, but i think i've pretty much completely ruled out all other possibilities. I'm worried that i might have missed something. Please let me know should you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 can be activated by a signal sent by the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is similar to the G4 sender and works on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily locate a spare in a wrecking shop or a parts store. It is simple to test them: simply switch your DMM into resistance mode and measure the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump on the connector's edge facing upwards). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

Our 20vt turbo (3B AAN, ABY, and ADU) engines have an ECU that has to be aware of the speed and position of the crankshaft in order to make decisions regarding timing of the fuel injector, for example. It uses a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to accomplish this. If you encounter a problem with either of these sensors, the diagnostic scanner will show codes that could cause an engine shut down.

The signs of a failing G28 sensor are an inaccurate gearbox rev counter and gears that shift faster than normal, and/or a misfire when in gear. If you experience any of these problems, it is most likely that your sensor is failing and requires replacement. The good thing is that they are very cheap and easy to find, especially when you're looking at the Bosch model, which is what we have. Alternately, the GM version of this component is also a good option.

5. Tachometer

A malfunctioning engine sensor can cause a variety of issues within your vehicle. It's an essential component of the transmission in your audi new key because it relays information to the ECU about how fast or slowly the engine is turning. If the sensor fails, it can cause problems for the transmission and the rest of the car's components.

The G5 engine speed sensor is located on the outside of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU at pin T55/49, via a grey wire. The ECU uses this signal to regulate the amount of fuel and boost, and also to timigrate. It also sends it to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for failure by examining the continuity between it and the tachometer, between the ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection to pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) and between pin T6a/1 and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should detect the resistance to be around 1000 ohms in these areas. This is a standard part across the audi advance key 80, 100 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC to the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU so good parts could be found in wrecking yards.
