It has some issues on carpet, but is superior to other robots in this price range. The Roomba i3+ EVO is also extremely efficient at moving between floor types and doesn't get caught on transitions like older generations can. The dual multi-surface rubber brushes can adapt to different floorings and prevent tangling in pet hair.

The i3+ EVO has weaker obstacle avoidance than some of the other robots we tested. It repeatedly encountered objects such as handbags, pet toys and shoes before continuing its path. It also had difficulty with coarse sea salt, which it blew around instead of picking up.

Cliff Detect and a edge-sweeping tool ensure that it gets into areas that are difficult to reach, and Dirt Detect sensors alert the robot to areas that are soiled heavily. It has a bin that automatically emptys and a battery life of about 60 minutes. The more expensive iRobot J7 is more advanced and performs better on all surfaces. It also feels more robust and has a bigger dustbin it charges faster and is able to navigate obstacles such as electrical cords more easily.
