WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for those with higher variance due to the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item level upgrade (that guy) upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that can be used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. They are purchased by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which will show an item upgrader mod's preview at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Item upgraders can be found in a variety of locations including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of obtaining the latest recipe. The upgrade item discount increases with the number of items being upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete specific achievements or quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items available at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety means. This is both a positive and an issue.

In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. After an upgrade item has been completed to a certain item upgrade level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is regardless of whether the items are from another set of gear.

The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut as well, but is only available after certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW players have a few choices. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment of a particular rank, and each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. These crests can be exchanged with an item upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.

Using these new currencies isn't too complicated however, the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This is to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest level possible on all their characters, instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests in a wise manner, as they have only one purpose. For instance, it's a good idea to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrader gear you have available and keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
