It was capable of driving close to walls and even across raised thresholds without issue. However it had some issues navigating down the stairs in one pass. The S1 also did an excellent job cleaning hard floors, with its mop driving smoothly on the flat side against the floor, and then lifting its own weight when it reaches carpet or rugs.

The docking station of the S1 automatically empties its dust bin and refills its water tank onboard with clean, ozonated water before every mopping session. The dock also adds a cleaning solution to the water for deep cleaning. The S1's tank of water holds enough water for about a dozen cleaning sessions before needing to be cleaned, although it will differ based the amount you use the mop.

Like all 2-in-1 robots, the S1 requires periodic maintenance to ensure it is operating well. You'll need to wash out the tank that has been contaminated to prevent it from becoming blocked. You'll also need to clean the swivel wheels and sensors regularly to keep them from getting blocked by dirt or dust. Overall the S1 requires less maintenance than other combos.

2. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo Complete
