It's quick and does an excellent job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It is able to vacuum carpeted rooms quickly, and hardwood floors in the kitchen, living room and hallways in just one motion. Its motor of 8,000pa is able to pick up dirt, pet hair, and droppings with ease. Carpet detection boosts power automatically when it comes in contact with carpets and the two side brushes help pull out debris from corners.

The mopping performance, though still impressive, is not as good. The mop rotates quickly and utilizes 2.2lbs to scrub dirt and stain. I've noticed that the front arms protrude out slightly more than other robots, which can be helpful to maneuver around tight corners and on baseboards. The same front arms can also be used to scoop up larger pieces of debris, like broken toys and books.

Another great feature is that the S1 Pro is one of the most quiet robot vacuums and mops I've ever used. It is quieter and doesn't create more noise when vacuuming or mopping. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it needs to utilize a specific mopping solution and is sold separately. It's easy to install and works well, but this is something that you'll have to be aware of when you purchase this vacuum for the sole purpose of mopping.

Its biggest drawbacks were its simplistic app and the requirement to swap between the modules to switch between mopping and vacuuming. The app can't hold multiple maps, which could be a pain for homes with multiple floors. The Matrix Plus is a good option for those who want a smart robot that can perform both mopping and vacuuming.

The Yiko X1 Omni

The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive item in our review. It does however, have some unique features which make it worth considering. The X1 Omni's main draw is its huge dock that serves as the robot's charging base as well as housing for two 4-liter water tanks, a sink for cleaning, and an automatic 2.5-liter dust bin that automatically eliminates.

The base also has a number of control buttons that allow you to start cleaning, recall the robot vacuum cleaners best, or use the dock's automatic emptying process. Press two buttons to toggle the child lock. This is a great feature for parents who are concerned about their children playing with the vacuum.

The Omni Omni like other robotic vacuums, uses its camera to spot obstacles and furniture in its path. It will stay clear of them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.

Unfortunately this means that the X1 Omni could occasionally become so entangled with an obstacle--such as the power cord that is draped across a rug--that it becomes stuck and ceases to function until you remove it manually. This was a rare occurrence however, it was a bit frustrating because the X1 doesn't have an "stuck status" alert in its app.

The X1 Omni isn't able to automatically switch from mopping mode to vacuuming mode during cleaning. You'll need to manually swap between the two modes, which isn't an issue apart from the fact that the mopping pads aren't cleaned and dried between uses and can cause mildew or mold.

On the positive side the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who came up with its modern and sleek base as well as mopping pad apparatus. It's a big contrast to the utilitarian, all-black bases used by competitors like Roborock and iRobot and a pleasing view in a market which is dominated by clunky, boxy units.
